The Human Trafficking Foundation (HTF), which assists the APPG, is a UK-based charity (Registered Charity no. 1134448, established 23rd February 2010) and company limited by guarantee (no. 07121887) which was created in order to support and add value to the work of the many charities and agencies operating to combat human trafficking in the UK. Our vision is of a UK which presents a hostile environment for human traffickers, where there is widespread public awareness of the evils of trafficking and support for those who are its victims, and where perpetrators of this evil crime are swiftly and effectively brought to justice.

The Foundation has grown out of the work of the UK's All Party Parliamentary Group on Human Trafficking. Its three current trustees (Anthony Steen (Chairman), Baroness Elizabeth Butler-Sloss GBE and the Rt Hon Clare Short) were founding members of the APPG, where their principal achievements included: -

- establishing similar All Party Groups in 9 other European countries

- prompting two nationwide police campaigns to tackle the illegal exploitation of trafficking victims in the UK (Pentameter I and Pentameter II)

- the UK's signature (March 2007), ratification (Dec 2008) and implementation (April 2009) of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings

- the passing of the Anti-Slavery Day Act 2010 (April 2010)
